Chocolate cherry

Start with a chocolate cupcake, boxed is fine or you can use my basic cake recipe. Add
1 t. of cherry extract to the cake batter.

Cherry butter cream frosting:

•1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
•1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine softened
•1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
•4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar (approximately 1 lb.)
•2 tablespoons milk
1-2 t. cherry extract (depending on how strong you want it)
A few drops of red or pink food coloring
